Mr. J.V. Wilson, 87, 1275 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 in the Elizabethton Life Care Center. He was a native of Yancey County, North Carolina but had lived most of his life in Johnson City. Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Charlie and Mary Tolley Wilson. He was a member of the Keystone Freewill Baptist Church of Johnson City. Mr. Wilson retired from the City of Johnson City as a sign painter and had worked in security for K-Mart. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served his country during World War II at Pearl Harbor. Mr. Wilson also had served 21 years in the Army National Guard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Wade and Gary Lynn Wilson; two brothers, and sisters-in-law, Elige Wilson and wife, Martha and Hobert Wilson and wife, Janice. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Lee Edwards Wilson; three children, Larry D. Wilson and his wife, Vickie of Fall Branch, Kathy Garst and her husband, Bobby of Johnson City and Terry Lee Wilson and his wife, Elsie of Unicoi; two sisters, Colleen Ball and Edith Stewart and husband, Sam all of Charlotte, NC; three half-brothers, Steve Wilson and wife, Lori of Mosheim, Buris Wilson and wife, Lori of Erwin and Michael Wilson and wife, Teresa of Erwin; seven grandchildren, Shane Wilson and wife, Jessee, Allan Garst and wife, Jaime, Scotty Garst, Kenneth Wilson, Timmy Wilson, Misty Krueger and Caleb Wilson; thirteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson, Sabastian; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Wilson will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in the Keystone Freewill Baptist Church, Bettie Street with Rev. Terry Jones and Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Special music will be provided by Brenda Deloach. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. and other times at the home of the daughter, 1407 Orleans Street, Johnson City.
