But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hat prepared for them that love him. 1st Corinthians 2:9 Houston Edward Greene Sr., 77, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the Elizabethton Life Care Center. He was a native of Johnson City and was a son of the late Haskel and Viola White Greene. Mr. Greene was an Independent Truck Driver and attended Milligan Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Arnett; a brother, Haskel E. Greene Jr; a son-in-law, Charles Ellis and a great-granddaughter, Cayla Hickman. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joyce Bryan Greene; two daughters, Sabrina Lee Ellis of Johnson City and Cindy Lane and her husband, Robert of Blountville; two sons, Houston (Buddy) Greene Jr. and his wife, Kathy and Danny Bruce Greene and his wife, Sandra all of Johnson City; two brothers, Raymond Greene and wife, Dandy and J.W. Greene and wife, Rita all of Jonesborough; ten grandchildren, Katrina Knight and husband, Wayne, Edward Huffman and wife, Traci, Holly Greene, Joy Beth Alexander, Houston Greene III, Christy Ellis and fiancee, Wes Barnett, Steve Greene and wife Sarah, Bobbi Hickman and husband, Caleb, Derek Greene and Kailey Greene; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Greene will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, May 20, 2013 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with the Rev. Mark Street officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Also other times at the home of a daughter, 243 Methodist Bible Camp Road, Blountville, TN. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Katrina Knight, Edward Huffman, Holly Greene, Joy Beth Alexander, Houston Green III, Christy Ellis, Steve Greene, Bobbi Hickman, Derek and Kailey Greene and his sons, Buddy Greene and Danny Bruce Greene. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses of Johnson City Medical Center and the Elizabethton Life Care Center for their wonderful care and compassion they provided.
