Mrs. Hester Hodges Jenkins, 84, of Johnson City was called by Jesus and walked through Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Washington County and the daughter of the late Elzia and Beatrice Feathers Hodges. Hester loved her family and always put their needs first in all that she did, raising several of her grandchildren as her own. She enjoyed cooking, doing arts and crafts, traveling and entertaining guests. Hester attended Hawthorne Church of the Brethren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melba Renzi and two brothers, John Hodges and Finis Hodges.She is survived by her beloved  husband of 65 years, Aubrey “Frank” Jenkins; two sons, Paul Jenkins and wife, Natalie of Florida and William Jenkins of Johnson City; a daughter, Alicia Adams of Johnson City; three brothers,  Lewis Hodges and wife, Barbara, George “Gary”  Hodges and wife, Betty and Jerry Hodges and wife, Patti; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; also several cousins, nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Jenkins will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 23, 2019 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Jason Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the service hour. Graveside services will follow in the Edgefield Cemetery, Piney Flats. Pallbearers will be Lewis, George and Jerry Hodges, Luke Renzi, Bryan Honaker, Christopher Johnson and Richard Hyatt..Condolences may be made online at www.wadugger.com.
