Helen Letterman Keys, age 100, Johnson City passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 in the Abundant Christian Living, Johnson City. She was a native of Green Mountain, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Doc and Nettie Peterson Letterman. Mrs. Keys had worked as a secretary in the Insurance business for many years. She was a member of Boones Creek Covenant Brethren Church in Boones Creek. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dana Keys and several siblings. Survivors include two nieces, Mary Thomas and Emily Wilson both of Concord, North Carolina; also special friends, Sharon Street and her husband, Roger of Jonesborough. Graveside services for Mrs. Keys will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2021 in the Highland Church Cemetery, 485 Highland Church Road, Gray, TN 37615 with Pastor Scott Kinnick officiating. I already already miss my Aunt Helen. As long as I can remember she has always been a big part of our lives . She helped me get my first job the summer I stayed with her . She often told me she felt like I was her child. When our son got married she was at the reception out on the floor dancing like she was Sixteen. I could write a book about all she was to our family. I will always love you . It just doesn’t seem right that her presence is no longer with us but she will always be in my heart. I love you. Your niece Mary

I am so sorry to learn of Helen's passing. I was always excited when she came to visit at our house, and I came to call her the "fun cousin." And that she was. Her sense of humor and the way she embraced life will always be remembered. Rest in peace, Cousin Helen.

I work at Christian assisted whitch used to be cornerstone south. Ms keys was always sweet and very funny . We talked about her past a lot and she liked that I was from around here and called us erwin girls ! She will be missed and remembered dearly . Praying for the family and loved ones ! . Rest easy helen you were a tough one .

My thoughts and prayers go out to Helens family and to all who knew her. She was one special lady. I met Helen in 2000 when I began my 15 years at Food City in Boones Creek. She had a wonderful since of humor, always telling us girls at work stories from her childhood and teenage years. She was always full of life and laughter and I can only imagine just how spunky she was in her youth. She had a kind heart but stood up against anyone for what she believed in and her love of God and church was always made known. I will never forget Helen. She made an everlasting impact on everyone she met. Helen Keys was one of a kind and will be missed by many. Rest in peace Ms. Helen. Glad this WV MOUNTAINEER had the privilege of meeting you. (yes, we talked a little snack on Saturdays. She loved her VOLS lol)
