Helen Sue Hand Hamrick, 70, Johnson City, went to be with the lord Friday, August 28, 2020. She was born in Kingsport to the late Charles and Ollie Jerrell Hand. Helen was a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and she loved her family. Helen had the kindest heart and would do anything for anyone. She loved to travel and cook. It was not only Helen’s profession but also a hobby. She was an amazing cook. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a nephew, David Ernest Gilman. Those left to cherish Helen’s memory are her children, David Henley and Melissa White of Johnson City; grandchildren, Zachary Henley, Alison White, Tyler White; sisters, Ruby Marengo and husband Roger of Ormond Beach, FL, Betty Ruth Kern and husband Hagen of Daytona Beach, FL, Eva Stout of Daytona Beach, FL; special friend, Mike Harwell; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Page, officiating. The graveside service will follow in Washington County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. Please understand we will be following the State’s COVID guidelines. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please bring and wear a mask.
