Mrs. Hazel V. Cullop, 84, 832 Hamilton Street passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 in the Erwin Health Care Center. She was a native of Marion, Virginia but had lived most of her life in Johnson City. Mrs. Cullop was a daughter of the late Willie and Nannie Combs Sheets. She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Cullop; two sons, Gregory A. Cullop and Michael G. Cullop; three sisters; four brothers and a grandson. Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Bennett and her husband, Mickey (Lee) of Jonesborough, Linda Byrd of Johnson City and Brenda Gouge of Erwin; three sons, David Sheets of Hampton, VA, Alvin Dean Cullop and Dickie Lee Cullop both of Johnson City; two sisters, Betty Childress and Mary (Kitty) Crewey both of Marion; two brothers, Joe Sheets and his wife, Becky of Hampton, VA and Tommy Sheets and his wife, Patty of Marion; a daughter-in-law, Pam Cullop of Johnson City; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Cullop will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in the Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with the Rev. David Dugger officiating. Special music will be provided by the Singing Duggers. Graveside services will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Dugger, Larry Dugger, Alfred Dugger, E.L. Wheeler, Mark Dugger and Travis Dugger. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
