Hattie B. Sparks

Hattie B. Sparks, age 90, of Johnson City, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Phebe Bennett Hill. Mrs. Sparks was a member of Midway Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, George Hayes; grandson, Danny Joe Hayes; sister Bessie and husband Leslie Oliver; brothers, Fred Hill, Ernie Hill, Dee and wife Florence Hill. Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Scalf and husband Kenneth, Blue Springs, Missouri, Patricia McKamey and husband Cleo, Lake City, TN, and Sandra Clouse and husband Toney, Jonesborough; one son, Daniel Hayes and wife Janet, Johnson City; stepson, Robert Lynn Sparks and wife, Mary, Johnson City; stepdaughter, Phyllis and husband Marcus, Jonesborough, TN; grandchildren, Weston Hayes, Melvin Nay, Jamie Brooks, Kathy Schabel, Susan and husband, Ed Chiddix, Kimberly and husband Kent McGlothlin, Sherie Self, Aaron Myers and wife Jessie, Jessie and Kelly McKamey, Dana Hilton, Ryan Winterroth, Fallon Clouse, Hattie Hayes, Brian and wife Tasha Sparks, Eric and wife Ashley, Mark Smith, and Jennifer Smith; 11 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great Great Grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Sparks will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 28, 2013 in the chapel of Woodall-Anderson & Dugger Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 29 at Barnett Cemetery, Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be, Aaron Myers, Charles Maricle, Ed Chiddix, Eric Sparks, Brian Sparks, and Adam Coulter. Those who wish to attend the graveiside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 to travel in procession to the cemetery on Saturday.
