I will praise thee: for thou heard me, and art become my salvation. Psalms 118: 19, 20, 21 Grace Ann Gouge, 80, Unicoi went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 22, 2018 at her residence. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and was a daughter of the late Earl and Nada Harrell. Her name describes her well for grace is one of the things she will be remembered for. Her angelic smile and kind, sweet voice will be missed by her family and friends. Grace was a CNA at Appalachian Christian Village and was a homemaker for her sons and some of her grandchildren. She was a loving wife to her husband of 65 years who passed away October of 2017. Grace loved listening to gospel songs and loved the Lord and reading her bible. She was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Bakersville, NC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Gouge; an infant son, Lenny Gouge; three sisters, Hazel Lewis, Nancy Bea Gibson and Iva Jean Gouge; two brothers, A.J. Harrell and Don Harrell. Survivors include two sons, Shane Gouge and wife, Melissa of Elizabethton and Shannon Gouge and wife, Regina of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Gabe and Cody Gouge and Lashanda Gouge-Saldana; five great-grandchildren, William Laws, Korbin Gouge, Gabriel, Abigail and Allie Laws; her sisters-in-law, Wanda, Katherine, Jewell, Yvonne and Marzella; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Grace will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, April 27, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Edward Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the service hour. Private entombment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to her caregivers, a niece, Madge Hall, a sister-in-law, Mima Jean Taylor and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful care they provided during Grace’s illness. Condolences may be made online at www.wadugger.com.
