Geraldine "Jerry" Pinkston, 78, Johnson City passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at her residence. She was a native and life long resident of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Curtis South and Gladys Whitamore Mottern. Mrs. Pinkston retired from the K-Mart Corporation and was a Baptist by faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-father, Jack Mottern. Survivors include eight children, Paul "Butch" Pinkston of Newport, Robert Lee Pinkston of Unicoi, Debra Honeycutt and husband, Darrell of Jonesborough, Patrick Howard Pinkston of Virginia, Phillip Thomas Pinkston of Johnson City, David Wayne Pinkston and wife, Susan of Grand Blanc, MI, Tina Kaye Davis of Elizabethton and Douglas Pinkston and wife, Sheila of Johnson City; two brothers, Charles Mottern of California and Billy Mottern and wife, Vickie of Greeneville; a sister, Wilma Grindstaff and husband, Charlie of Johnson City; several half brothers and sisters; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Makayla Pinkston and her boyfriend, Kevin; also several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Mrs. Pinkston will be conducted at 2:30 PM Friday, October 31, 2014 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Larry Dugger officiating. Her sons will serve as pallbearers. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:00 PM to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The family would like to offer special thanks to all of her neighbors and special friends, Norma and her adopted daughter, Brenda "Sarge" for all of their kindness, friendship and support they have shown to their mother through the years.
