Georgia Mae Rowe Shepard, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital after a very courageous battle with leukemia. Georgia was a native of Carter County, and was a daughter of the late George Daniel Rowe and Zora Mae Rowe Bailey. She was a dedicated and loyal employee of J.C. Penny Company for 48 years, and was loved by her co-workers, customers, and many friends. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. Georgia will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shepard was preceded in death by her previous husband, Elmer Ray Shepard; sister, Julia Marie Rowe; brother, George Daniel Rowe, Jr. Survivors include her children, Steve Shepard, Elizabethton, Mike Shepard, Bristol, VA, Rick Shepard, Elizabethton, and Judy Moore and husband John, Boones Creek Community; six sisters, Louise Utsman and husband Bill, Johnson City, Nancy Dugger and husband Richard, Johnson City, Linda Click, Elizabethton, Doris Whaley, Brenda White, and Wilma Carpenter, all of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Christy Shepard, Jessica Shepard, and Matthew Shepard; two great grandchildren, Kyliah Moton and Ameelah Ramiraz; brother-in-law, Robert G. Shepard and wife Mary, Johnson City; cousin, Robert G. Rowe, Johnson City. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive The memorial service for Mrs. Shepard will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2013 in the chapel of Woodall-Anderson & Dugger Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Broyles officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 until 6:30 P.M. in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite #202, Wilmette, IL 60091.
