George "Billy" Miles, 46, 605 Carter Sells Road, Johnson City passed away unexpectedly at his residence Friday, March 24, 2017. He was a native of Petersburg, West Virginia and was a son of the late George and Virginia Compton Miles. Billy had worked for Wal-Mart in Elizabethton for several years. He was a great partner and was a friend to so many people. Billy loved life and made an impact on so many people's life. He was one of the most gentle and kind hearted person to ever walk among the living. Billy could always make people laugh and smile and he loved to travel. He also had a love for fishing and trains and would ride them often in Georgia. Billy will be deeply missed by a lot of people. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Birtie Miles. Survivors include his step-father, John Denson of Virginia; his partner, Chad Fields of Johnson City; his extended family, Walter and Patricia Blevins, Janice Busler, Debbie and Danny Carver and Robin Gentry; special friends, David Fontaine, Josh Chilress, Carolyn Lee Santoli, Kelley Tsukroff, Layla Jones, Matt Hayes, Debi Miles, Pam Nunley, Patti Schmukie Steier, Matthew and Amber Stephens, Melissa Schriber, Jeremy Clementi, Whitney Nicole, Beav Cash and Christina Wheeler Britt. Funeral services for Billy will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Gene Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 7, 2017 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from his friends. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
