Gary Lynn Wilson

Mr. Gary Lynn Wilson, 56, 1275 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 at his residence. He was a native of Johnson City and was a son of J.V. and Mary Edwards Wilson of Elizabethton. Mr. Wilson was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired painter. He was a member of the Keystone Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City. Gary was an avid UT Vols and Atlanta Braves fan and loved to fish. He was loved and adored by his family and a host of friends. In addition to his parents he is survived by a daughter, Misty Wilson, Johnson City; two sons, Timothy Wilson, Johnson City and Caleb Wilson of Shelby, North Carolina; a step-son, Jamie Chandler, Johnson City; two brothers, Larry Wilson and his wife, Vickie of Fall Branch and Terry Wilson and his wife, Elsie of Unicoi; a sister, Kathy Garst and her husband, Bobby of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Keegan and McKenzie Krueger, Mekia Wilson, Jacinda Bruner, Madison and Abby; a special grandbaby, Sabastian Guy; three aunts, Hattie Jones and husband, Don, Johnson City, Edith Stewart and husband, Sam, Charlotte, NC and Glassie Ball, Charlotte; three uncles, Steve Wilson and wife, Lora, Mosheim, Mike Wilson and wife, Teresa, Erwin and Bernice Wilson and wife, Lori of Jonesborough; a special cousin, Tammy Greene, Johnson City; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with the Rev. Terry Jones and Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Brenda Deloach. Interment will follow in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery, Elizabethton. Pallbearers will be Scotty Garst, Gene Deloach, John Stalcup, Blake Guy, Shane Wilcox, Jamie Chandler and Mike Wilson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the service hour.
