Franklin T. “Tommy” Rush, 52 of Johnson City passed away peacefully at home with his mother at his side on November 26, 2019. He was preceded in death by father, Michael Rush and his grandparents that were waiting to welcome him home. Tommy his survived by his mother, Nancy Ruth Rush; two brothers, John and Steven Rush; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tommy was always very competitive and participated in many sports from T-ball at age 6 until cornhole at age 50. He was a devoted Vols fan and was a kind and generous soul, always willing to help anyone in need. Tommy will be greatly missed by his lifelong friends in Tennessee and his many new friends in Florida where he lived for fifteen years before returning home in 2018. To continue his fight with against cancer he donated his body for research. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Maranatha Tabernacle, Unicoi with Pastor E.L. Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with the service following at 2:00 PM. So very sad to hear this news. I worked with Tommy for many years and he was a hard worker with a big heart. He will be missed. Rest in power, brother. May your memory be eternal.
