Fern M. Sanders

Mrs. Fern M. Sanders, 81, 1303 Patrick Drive, Johnson City passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Hawkins County but had lived in Johnson City most of her life. Mrs. Sanders was a daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie Baines Adams. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker and had worked for Magnavox Corporation in Greeneville for several years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son; infant brother; a daughter, Connie Sanders; four sisters, Sylvia Hodges, Charmie Manis, Mary Presley and Tammy Shipley; a brother, Charles "Buddy" Adams. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Harrell A. Sanders; a son, Stanley Sanders of Kingsport; three sisters, Lucille Hickman of Gray, Carolyn Williams of Limestone and Helen Shipley of Gray; two brothers, Ralph Adams of Gray and John Thomas Adams of Johnson County; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Sanders will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in the Edgefield Cemetery in Piney Flats. Pallbearers will be Willie Wade, Jim Yelton, Bill Ferguson, Jeffrey Nelson, Shawn Nelson and B.J. Williams III. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:30 PM until the service hour.
