Emma Lou Edwards Sordino, 75, 1201 Marbleton Road, Unicoi went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in the Center on Aging and Health with her family at her side. She was a native of Roaring Creek, NC and a daughter of the late Hobart and Faye Woody Cooper. Mrs. Sordino was a homemaker and attended Unicoi Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Lee Edwards; her second husband, Mario Sordino; four brothers, Herman, Paul, Kenneth and Homer Cooper. Survivors include two daughters, Dianna Holland and husband, Kerry of Gray and Susan Wilson and husband, Dwight of Erwin; two sons, James Edwards and wife, Lora of Unicoi and Calvin Edwards and his fiance, Christy of Unicoi; grandsons, Johnathon Williams, Dustin Wilson and wife, Heather, Roy Edwards; granddaughters, Ivy and Michelle Stransberry; great-grandsons, Jayden and Dayvan Williams; a great-granddaughter, Maylee Wilson to be born in August; sisters, Ann Ables, Clara Garcia and husband, Richard and Norma Vineyard and husband, Brent; brothers, Fred, John and Bob Cooper; sisters-in-law, Sandra Cooper, Priscilla Cooper, Madell Bunch, Mildred Rogers and Florence Clarke; also several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services for Emma Lou will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, July 5, 2015 in the Unicoi Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Brett Jones and Rev. Dallas Gregg officiating. Special music will be provided by Norma Vineyard and Calvin and Christy. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 PM until the service hour. Other times at the residence. Interment will follow the service in the Cooper Family Cemetery in Unicoi. Pallbearers will be Johnathon Williams, Dustin Wilson, Zack and Cody Cooper, Roy, James and Calvin Edwards. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center, Unicoi County Memorial Hospital, Center on Aging and Health and Caris Hospice Group, especially Katina and Lisa for the wonderful care they provided. Also to Dr. Reedy and Dr. Rolen of Johnson City Internal Medicine and Dr. Frank Wegman of Gastrointestinal Associates of Northeast, Tennessee.
