Elton Stanley Briggs

Elton Stanley Briggs, 80, 118 Norris Road, Telford passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Flag Pond, TN and a son of the late Tom and Dora Gregory Briggs. Mr. Briggs operated a steam-cleaning business for many years and later retired from Whites Fresh Foods where he worked as a truck driver. He was a member of Telford Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dora Mae Briggs; a brother, Clayton Briggs and a great-granddaughter, Cassandra Silvers. Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Douglas Briggs; four sons, Thomas Briggs and wife, Ashley of Telford, Richard Briggs and wife, Julie of Florida, Stanley Briggs and wife, Kristen of Kingsport and Kevin Nelson and wife, Candace of Telford; a brother, David Briggs and wife, Carolyn of Flag Pond; two sisters, Jean Steeples of Bumpass Mills, TN and Rita Cloyd and husband, Terry of Jonesborough; seven grandchildren, Kadin, Noah, Jace, Billy and Preston Briggs, Lukas Nelson and Crystal Shepard; two great-grandchildren; also several cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in the Telford Baptist Church, Old State Route 34, Telford with Pastor Buddy Jones and Rev. Terry Cloyd officiating.
