Edward Eugene (Gene) Terrell, 78, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 at his residence. He was a native of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina and was a son of the late Walter and Eleanor Mae Hill Terrell. Gene was a member of the Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ. He retired from BE Aerospace where he had worked in Quality Control. Gene loved reading the Bible and his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He enjoyed scenic automobile rides with his wife, Jayne, he also loved muscle cars. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca Jayne Hicks Terrell who passed away October 14, 2019 and a brother, Robert Terrell. Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Diane Smith of Knoxville; three sisters, Betty Welch and husband, Hubert of Dustin, OK, Sharon Davis and husband, Jack of Walkertown, NC and Susan Searles and husband, Steve of Locke, NY; four brothers, James Terrell and wife, Peggy of King, NC, Steven Terrell and wife, Darlene of New Market, TN, Timothy Terrell and wife, Barbara of Elkin, NC and Mark Terrell and wife, Jane of Kernersville, NC; extended family, Anna and Wade Altland of Johnson City; also several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Gene will be conducted at 7:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ, 2733 Elizabethton Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601 with Pastor Donny Reagan officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 10, 2019 in the Fairview Cemetery, Highway 81 North, Jonesborough. Active pallbearers will be James, Steven, Tim and Mark Terrell, Wade Altland, Bud Davis and Jessie Martin. Calvin Ward will serve as honorary pallbearer. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM.
