Dennis Verlin Scott

Mr. Dennis V. Scott, 70, 101 Arbor Hills Drive, Piney Flats passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 in the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center. He was a native of Johnson City and was a son of Katherine Cox Scott of Johnson City and the late Verlin Scott. Mr. Scott retired from the U.S. Navy where he served during the Vietnam era. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda Greene Scott in 2012; a brother, Jack Scott. Survivors in addition to his mother includes two daughters, Denyele Robbins of Colorado and Kathy Scott of Nashville; a son, Jeffrey Scott and his wife, Michele of Piney Flats; a brother, Norman Scott and his wife, Claudia of Johnson City; three sisters, Donna Miller of Johnson City, Peggy Harrison and husband, Porter of Maryland and Sandy Ellis and husband, Wayne of Texas; a sister-in-law, Carol Scott of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Nikki and Peri Tzantarmas, Willow, Meadow, Jeffrey and Joshua Scott; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Scott will be conducted at 1:30 PM Friday, September 13, 2013 in the Chapel of Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with Ms. Susan Scott officiating. Military service with full honors will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. The U.S. Navy Honor Guard will be assisted by the Bonne Dam VFW Honor Guard Detail. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
