David G. West, 63, 358 Garland Branch Road, Watauga passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Johnson City and was a son of the late Burnie and Martha Ferguson West. Mr. West was of the Baptist faith and had worked for Summers-Taylor for 23 years. He was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Barbara Hill. Survivors include three step-daughters, Sandra Blevins, Elizabethton, Nancy Hyatt and her husband, Richard of Watauga and Elizabeth Ball of Jonesborough; two step-sons, Bill Ryhmer, Johnson City, Marty and Missy Hill of Elizabethton; two sisters, Linda Carden and sons of Claremont, NC and Janette Hoilman and her husband, Glenn of Watauga; three brothers, Donald West and his wife, Kathy, Harlan West, Watauga and Doug West of Johnson City: sixteen grandchildren: also several cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. West will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2012 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue with the Rev. Glen Hoilman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 PM until the service time. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday from the Fairview cemetery in Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be Jimmie Brown, Justin Brown, Devan Nelson, John Fitzgerald, Chris Hyatt and Gary Hoilman. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Hyatt, Frank Higgins and Donnie Bare. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the funeral home Tuesday by 1:15 PM to go in procession. Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home, 108 W. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City is serving the West family.
