David Charles King, 73, Johnson City passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side. He was a native of San Antonio, Texas and was a son of the late Wilber King and Hazel Wilson King Cross. David retired from the V.A. Medical Center where he had worked as a Warehouse Supervisor. He was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed taking his beloved dog, Crickett to the park and letting him play. David loved playing cards and puzzles with his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer for many years playing with his friends. David loved taking rides in his red car around town. He coached little league years ago and spent the last ten years with all of his family and his great-grandchildren, they were his whole world. David adored his wife of 43 years, Pamela and they enjoyed spending time together and watching TV at night. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Doug King and a sister, Diane Hyatt. Survivors include his loving wife, Pamela Smalling King; his children, Becky King of Watauga, Karen Fulgham and husband, Melvin of Knoxville, Susie Arnold of Johnson City and Randy France and wife, Theresa of Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Jaime Bridwell of Knoxville, Amber Ray, Ashley Drexler and husband, Frank and Lauren Arnold all of Johnson City; six great-grandchildren, Timothy Lampkin, McKayla Lampkin, Joseph Drexler III, Brooklyn Drexler, Peyton Dailey and Rylee Arnold; also several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with Military Honors will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, September 30, 2022 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery, Historic Section with Pastor Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy France, Sammy White, Harold Griffith, Danny and Kevin Hyatt. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 AM.
