Cynthia Estepp Sparks, 50, of Johnson City passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 30, 2013 in the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was the only daughter of Carolyn Miller Estep of Johnson City and the late Bruce Estepp. Cynthia was a member of the 1981 graduation class of David Crockett High School and had attended ETSU. She had a deep spiritual faith since her youth. In addition to her father Cynthia was preceded in death by her first husband, Sgt. Gordon M. (Duke) Dewey who was tragically killed on the Army base at Ft. Campbell; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Miller of Hwy 107, Jonesborough. Leaving behind to cherish her memory is her beloved son, Gavin and her mother, Carolyn Estepp; uncles and aunts, Don Miller and wife, Joan, A.J. Miller and wife, Barbara all of Jonesborough and Bobby Estepp and wife, Joyce of Limestone; also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Cynthia will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, October 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Chatman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:30 PM until the service hour. A private interment for family members will be held at a later time at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Carroll Sparks.
