Charles David Britt

Charles David Britt, 79, 105 Mount Zion Church Road, Jonesborough passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a son of the late Rufus and Emma Hodge Britt. Mr. Britt retired from General Shale Brick in 1995. After retirement he loved woodworking including building birdhouses and wishing wells. Mr. Britt enjoyed fishing and bird watching. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Johnny, Ernest, J.B. and Orville Britt and two sisters, Margaret Cole and Dolly Sams. Survivors include two daughters, Emma Williamson and husband, Daren of Jonesborough and Tracy Britt of Nashville, TN; a sister, Bonnie Miller and husband, R.C. of Erwin; a grandson, Jon Moody of Jonesborough; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Britt will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, February, 26, 2014 in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with Mr. Gary Cole officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 27, 2014 in the Maplelawn Cemetery in Jonesborough. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. For those attending you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
