Charles Carl Barnett

Charles C. Barnett, 91, of 605 Carter Sells Road, Johnson City passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 in the Franklin Woods Community Hospital. He was a native of Johnson City and was a son of the late Charles and Minnie Cox Barnett. Mr. Barnett was retired from Burlington Industries. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country in Italy during World War II. Mr. Barnett enjoyed nature, taking long walk in the woods, reading and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his loving wife, Wilma Proffitt Barnett; a daughter, Barbara Allen Haney of Johnson City; a son, Danny Barnett of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Charles Ashley Barnett and wife, Carissa of California, Lindy Krickbawm and husband, Phil, Johnson City, Bevin Dickson and husband, Jason, Johnson City, Heather Scheel and husband, Christian of Bristol and Sabrina Haney of Johnson City; two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Evan Barnett of California; many nieces and nephews; also his dog, Duchess. Memorial services for Mr. Barnett will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home, 108 W. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Richard Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
