Carrie Wright Durham

Mrs. Carrie Wright Durham, 74, 105 E. 10th Street, Johnson City passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 in the Indian Path Hospital, Kingsport. She was a native of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Emanuel and Anne Murray Wright. Mrs. Durham was a member of the Clark Street Baptist Church. She had worked at J. Miller Fashions in the Mall and Goody's Family Clothing before retirement in 2002. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred A. Durham in 1993; her grandparents and step-father, George A. Hendrix; a great-grandson, Cooper Durham. Survivors include a daughter, Pamela D. Godwin and friend, Roger Murr of Johnson City; two sons, Martin A. Durham and wife, Carol of Gray and Joseph A. Durham and wife, Krista of Rockyface, GA; six grandchildren, Michelle Godwin of Jonesborough, Sydnie and Rileigh Durham of Gray and Shae, Randy and Gabreal Durham of Rockyface, GA; two great-grandchildren, Joey and Nicole Metcalf; a brother, Martin Wright and wife, Mary Ellen of Kingsport; two nieces, Amy Wright of Eaton, Ohio and Sarah Belt and husband, Kenneth of Indianapolis; a special friend, Helen Bryant of Johnson City; also several cousins. Private family services will be held in Boones Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Joe Beaver officiating. Special music will be provided by Haley Church Lingerfelt.
