Carolyn A. Sutphin, 66, 102 Brantley Lane, Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 2, 2015 in the NHC Healthcare in Johnson City after a lengthy illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late Carl and Myrtle Pritchard Nickles. Mrs. Sutphin had worked for HPH Apparel in Johnson City. She was a member of the West Park Street Freewill Baptist Church in Erwin. Mrs. Sutphin was a loving wife and mother and will be truly missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, David Sutphin; two brothers, Elmer and Isaac "Buck Nickles. Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, William Sutphin; a daughter, Suesi Loveless and her husband, Kenny of Johnson City; a sister, Brenda Nickles of Johnson City; two brothers, Roger and Orville Nickles both of Johnson City; very special friends, Chris and Donna Adkins of Erwin; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mrs. Sutphin will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, October 5, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Jeff Autrey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in the Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery, 4755 Cherokee Road, Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of NHC Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided.
