Carmelo “Charlie “A. Torres, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2018. Ironically, being a veteran, his passing took place on Veterans Day.He retired from the United States Postal Service after serving as a Safety Inspector Specialist in Orlando, Florida for many years. He participated in World War II as part of a bomb squadron with the United States Army Air Forces. During his last mission, Staff Sgt. Charlie Torres, a right waist gunner, was assigned with his 10-man crew to a beat-up B-17F Flying Fortress dubbed “Patches”. His plane got hit by flak and he survived the eventual plane crash by jumping out the bomb bay doors. He believes it was a miracle of God that he made it out, turned his parachute away from the bomb zone, and wasn’t hit by flak or bulletsCharlie can be quoted as saying: “Every mission, we flew for patriotism and love of country. We lived our lives with an intensity that’s difficult for others to imagine or fully comprehend.”God was in control,” he has always said. “By God’s grace, I was not hit.”This is all described in his autobiographical book “This Was Not My Time”Charlie A. Torres dedicated himself to a Christian way of life; encouraging others to do so as well, supporting many churches and missionary endeavors both locally and internationally. He was well loved, appreciated, and respected by many friends, family, and acquaintances the like.Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Eusebia Torres of 56 years; children, Alice Torres, Carlos A. Torres and Daniel V. Torres and wife, Febe H. Torres; Grandchildren Katherine Rivera, and David Isaac Torres; Great grandchildren, Danielle Cosme, Johnathan Prieto and much extended family in Puerto Rico, Florida, and Tennessee.A Celebration of Life service for Charlie will be conducted at 7:00 PM Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ with Pastor Donny Reagan officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 10:45 AM Monday, November 19, 2018 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:35 AM.Condolences may be made online at www.wadugger.com. Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home, 108 W. He's dancing in a new young body. Shouting, jumping, raising his hands and praising the Lord as he's always done, but with more gusto and zeal than ever before! He believed a lie about me started by his church that separated us but I never changed my mind about him; he's a true son of God and we'll be reunited soon at the rapture. All who read this, stay busy on the field. Though many have fallen asleep at the table, or even gotten up from the table, or fallen to money, popularity or pride, there are lost sheep out there in unsearched places that need to take their late, rightful place at the table of the Lord. Get out there and find them. That's what Brother Charlie did, sharing his kindness and his love for the Lord Jesus Christ to friend and stranger alike. How many times, I've seen him start a conversation with a complete stranger, and have them smiling in seconds, or in repentant tears... That's an example that every preacher needs to follow, and spread that example. We'll see him soon enough, in his glorious theophany body as he returns with Jesus and the saints who have gone on before us, to usher us home in the rapture!
I remember His worship of our Lord Jesus Christ
He will be missed by many but He is in the sixth dimension now

Descansa en paz tio Charlie. Siempre te recordaremos.
I met Bro Charlie in Orlando Florida while attending church and gatherings with Charlie McDonald. I remember his zeal for life and hearing his Amens loudly in service. I'm certainly sorry for the family as they say farewell to Bro Charlie but all he lived for has finally come to fruition as He's now with the heavenly Father. God Bless you and may His peace give you strength at this time.
Daniel, so sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you and your family

Prayers for the Torres family during this time of loss. I had the pleasure of work with Mr. and Mrs. Torres many years ago and it was a pleasure. "Charlie" always spoke of his faith, his family and his service to his country!
