Buddy Lee Payne, 66, 113 W. Holston Avenue, Apt. 1, Johnson City went home to be the Lord, Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a son of Ralph S. Payne and the late Dorothy Roberts Payne. Buddy had worked many years as a truck driver before being disabled. He attended New Life Tabernacle of Johnson City. Buddy loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Malleri Sue Doran and a God daughter, Brandi Hughes. Survivors include his loving wife, Sue Perkins Payne of the home; his father, Ralph S. Payne and his wife, Sue of Johnson City; his children, Kevin Payne and wife, Becky, Janet Payne, Dominic Payne and Tyler L Doran all of Johnson City; his step-children, Scotty Doran and wife, Angie of Jonesborough; Betsy Nickles and husband, Jason, Mark Stout and wife, Vonda all of Johnson City and Ken Stout of Jonesborough. Grandchildren, Eric Stout, Ashley Doran, Tina Mendez, Phillip Stout, Myra Doran, Justin Doran, Aaron Payne, Osiris Payne, Langston Payne, Amiyah Payne, Shanequa Silvers, Alona Norwood and Sierra Norwood; two great-grandchildren, Weston Bryce Payne and Malic Silvers. Funeral services for Buddy will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 11, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Larry Dugger and Pastor David Dugger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the service hour. Interment will follow in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Young, Frank Hamilton, Jamie Norwood, Terry Carver, Joe Woodruff and Jason Nickles.
