Brenda Sue Hill, 72, 1072 Smalling Road, Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 20, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a native of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late George and Lola Ramsey Pickering. Mrs. Hill had worked many years for Texas Instruments, Siemens Corporation and Epic Industries. She was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church where she had served as the church pianist. Mrs. Hill enjoyed painting, crafts, camping, fishing, cooking and making candy with her daughter. She also loved people, she never met a stranger. Brenda will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Carroll "Duckie" Pickering; three sisters, Joyce Williams, Helen Mercer and her twin infant sister, Linda Pickering. Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Phillip A. Hill; a son, Tony Hill and wife, Paula of Huntsville, AL; a daughter, Tammy Hill of Johnson City; two grandsons, Charles and Robert Hill; a granddaughter, Abigail E. Hill; two nephews, Steve Williams and Richard Rosendahl; six nieces, Penny Proffitt, Beth, Lori and Kim Pickering, Denise Davis and Linda Tibbetts; also an aunt, Mary Weller of South Carolina. Funeral services for Mrs. Hill will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, August 23, 2015 in the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Crowe, Rev. T.J. Parks, Rev. Howard Ray and Rev. Beryl Fann officiating. Music will be provided by the Piney Grove Trio, the Quillen family and Tony Howell. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 2:00 PM until the service hour. Other times at the home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 24, 2015 in the John Whitehead Cemetery in Hampton. Pallbearers will be Charles, Robert, Tony, Daniel, Anthony and Chris Hill, David Proffitt, Steve Williams and Samuel Clawson. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the church Monday by 10:00 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to offer special thanks to the nursing staff of the Johnson City Medical Center Intensive Care Unit.
