Blaine Junior Beam, 78, of Johnson City passed away Monday, March 31, 2014. He was a Carter County native and a son of the late Elzie and Lois McKinney Beam. Mr. Beam was a retired truck driver and had attended East Watauga Avenue Baptist Church in Johnson City. He was a U.S Air Force veteran having served his country in Vietnam. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Warren Beam; a grandson, David Price; two sisters, Marlene Brackins and Clariece Crafton; also two brothers, D.L. (Billy) Beam and Walter (Bugs) Beam. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Price and husband, David of DeKalb, Illinois and Sherry B. Helisek and husband, Gene of Cleveland, Tennessee; two brothers, Wayne Beam and wife, Helen and Glen Beam all of Johnson City; a sister, Emma Dean Hale and husband, Alan of Johnson City; two grandsons, Matthew Helisek and Mike Price; also several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Mr. Beam will be conducted at 1:45 PM Thursday, April 3, 2014 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Mike Dickenson officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Boone Dam VFW Honor Guard Detail. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM then go in procession to the cemetery.
