Betty Lou Bailey, 66, Limestone went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital with her family at her side. She was a native of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Noah and Katherine Blevins Self. Mrs. Bailey had worked as a CNA and Caregiver for many years. She was a Baptist by faith. She loved listening to music, taking care of animals especially her dog, Peanut, and enjoyed cooking.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Robert Self; grandsons, Scotty Barnett and Bryson Arnett; three sisters, Eula Rosenbalm, Myrtle Johnson and Louise Fields; a half-sister, Martha Self; and two half-brothers, Bill and Oliver Self.Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Edward Paul Bailey; her children, Kathy Barnett and husband, Tim of Limestone, Melissa De la Vega and husband, Salvador of Telford, Paula Barnett and husband, Jeff of Jonesborough, Carolyn Arnett and husband, James of Kingsport, Marcus Bailey and Wendy Miles of Jonesborough, Glen Bailey of Greeneville and Sharon Bailey and Joshua Peterson of Jonesborough; three sisters, Iva Jean Jackson of Jonesborough, Phyllis Fields and Ida Hyatt and husband, Jack all of Johnson City; grandchildren, Salvador D. De la Vega, Sara De la Vega, Chandler Barnett, Parker Barnett, Kelsey Arnett, Isaiah Arnett, Emma Arnett, Izabella Arnett, Victoria Bailey and Jacob Peterson; great-grandchildren, Rylie and Ava De la Vega, Preston, Prince and Jedidiah Arnett; also several nieces and nephews.Funeral services for Mrs. Bailey will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday August 10, 2019 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Freddie Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Graveside services will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends.Condolences may be made online at www.wadugger.com.
