Mrs. Betty Lou Haun Garland, 81, of Unicoi passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Unicoi County and was a daughter of the late Herman and Sarah Miller Haun. Betty was a longtime member of the Rock Creek Presbyterian Church. She was employed by Baxter Pharmaceuticals and retired as one of the owners of Clarence’s Drive-In. Betty was a loving mother and friend, and had a great sense of humor and a passion for her flowers. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Garland in 2016; two brothers, Lawrence and Bill Haun; four sisters, June Edwards, Christine Tapp, Sue Christenson and Mae Mayfield, Survivors include her children, Teresa Collins and husband, Jerry of Unicoi and Mark Garland of Unicoi; a brother, Jackie Haun and his wife, Jeannie of Florida; a grandson, Jabies Collins of Johnson City; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for Mrs. Garland will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, January 6, 2019 at the Rock Creek Presbyterian Church, 800 Rock Creek Road, Erwin, TN 37650 with Rev. Stanley N. Betty was my aunt and was such a sweet, kind, loving lady. She always had a smile on her face and always thought of everyone else before herself. I wish I could have been around her more than I was. So sorry for your loss. She will be highly missed. Love Wendy Garland
