Betsy Lee Sneyd Morton

Betsy Lee Sneyd Morton, 58, 2135 Highway 107, Unicoi passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Unicoi and was a daughter of the late Robert and Viola Woodby Sneyd. Ms. Morton was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Smith and three brothers, Bradley, Bobbie and Buddy Sneyd; her paternal grandparents, Joe and Dora Sneyd and her maternal grandparents, Henderson and Margaret Woodby. Survivors include her partner, Guy Garland and a son, Richard Morton both of the home; four sisters, Barbara Lyons of Johnson City, Bonnie Hyder of Elizabethton, Bea Caldwell and husband, Tommy of Unicoi and Karen Smith of Johnson City; two brothers, Ray Smith of Johnson City and Douglas Hyder and wife, Linda of Limestone Cove; two aunts, Bessie Hill and Mamie Kimbrell; very special friends, Jerry Anderson and Linda Lance; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ms. Morton will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. G.B. Garland and Rev. B.F. McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 16, 2015 in the Woodby Hill Cemetery, Unicoi. Pallbearers will be Richard Morton, Ray Smith, Ricky Miller, Jacob Cutler, Doug Hyder, Haley Hyder and Chevis Miller. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM.
