Bernadine Moore Ray, 69, Watauga, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020 at the Johnson City Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and moved to Johnson City as a child and lived until she married in 1970 then moved to Watauga. Mrs. Ray was a daughter of the late Rev. Ford Moore and Lorraine Steiner Moore. She had worked in the nursery for many years at First United Methodist Church. She was also a housekeeper for many families in the area. Mrs. Ray was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Ray was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a two brothers, Joe and James Moore. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, James Robert Ray Jr. of the home; sons, Jack Ray and John Ray of Watauga; a step-daughter, Lisa Allen and husband, Greg of Sweetwater, TN; a step-son, Robbie Ray and wife, Ellen of Johnson City; four grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; brothers, Carl Moore and Elmer Moore; a sister, Mary Turner; also several nieces and nephews. Due to the current guidelines set forth by the CDC all services at this time will be held privately by the Ray family. Private family interment will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Agape Nursing and Rehab and the Dr’s and nurses on the 4300 wing of Johnson City Medical Center for the wonderful care and compassion they provided.
