Benjamin "Joe" Hall, age 73, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tennessee after a long illness. Mr. Hall was a native of Washington County, Tennessee and a son of the late F.C. Hall and Martha Elliott Harvey Hall. Mr. Hall a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired building contractor. He was of the Christian faith and during his lifetime, he enjoyed motorcycles, sports cars, his beloved cat, Daisy, reading, cooking, movies, listening to the Gaither's gospel music, visiting with his many friends and telling jokes. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a vivid imagination. Those left to cherish his memory include his life-long friend, Bill Harvey, whom he considered his brother, Bill's wife, Barbara of Johnson City; their children, Darren Harvey of Gastonia, NC, Gary Harvey, Jonesborough, Regina Harvey Johnson, Kingsport and Jennifer Harvey Storey, Knoxville; special long-time friends, Randy Decker, Jonesborough, Bobby Roller, Marilyn and Tommy Morrison, Brenda and David Sneyd and Connie Tilson all of Johnson City; Joe's Godchildren, Bryan Edmisten, Johnson City and Erica Edmisten of Houston, Texas. A memorial service to honor Joe's life will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, April 30, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Bryan Smith officiating and Bobby Roller delivering the eulogy. The receiving of friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the funeral home prior to the funeral on Thursday. A graveside service with Military Honors for Mr. Hall will be conducted at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Darren and Bill Harvey, Bobby Roller, Randy Decker, David Sneyd, Bryan Edmisten, Tommy Morrison and Doug Honeycutt. For those who prefer, memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations on behalf of Joe to the Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter, 525 Sells Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37604, 423-926-8769 or online.
