Balissa Star Holder

Balissa Star Holder, 46, 321 Headtown Road, Jonesborough went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of Maryland Neal Holder and the late Fred Holder. Balissa was a member of the Crossroads Church in Greeneville. She enjoyed singing and listening to southern gospel music and was an accomplished poet, having written many beautiful poems. Balissa was a wonderful friend to all and will be missed by everyone who knew her. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a brother, Ty Holder. Survivors in addition to her mother includes a sister, Terrina Holder Gammon and her husband, Kim of Johnson City; three brothers, Kamay Holder and his wife, Lori, Randy Holder and his wife, Janet all of Jonesborough and Denno Holder of Johnson City; a son, Joshua Holder, Jonesborough; three nieces, Justice Gammon, Jessica Holder and Brittany Holder Sanders; a nephew, Matthew Holder. The Home Going Service for Balissa will be conducted at 7:00 PM Saturday, July 28, 2012 in the Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor David Dugger officiating. Special music will be provided by Justice Gammon, Joshua Holder and David Dugger. Eulogy will be given by her sister, Terrina. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5:00 PM until the service time. Also other times at the home at 321 Headtown Road, Jonesborough. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 29, 2012 in the Monte Vista Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Yankee, Denno, Kamay and Matthew Holder, Gordon Shell and Kim Gammon. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 PM to go in procession to the cemetery. For those who prefer, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses.
