Anthony (Tony) Joseph Blackburn

Tony Blackburn, age 44, of Jonesborough, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Flint Michigan, he was a son of Pearl Leona Glutsch Blackburn of Johnson City and the late Joseph Harrison Blackburn, Jr.. Mr. Blackburn was a carpenter and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He always played the game with heart. In addition to his mother, Tony is survived by ten brothers, Larry Blackburn, Jeff Blackburn, Joey Blackburn, Rob Martin, Gary Martin, Ted Martin, Lonnie Martin, Frank Martin, Andy Blackburn, and Mike Dagg; two sisters, Irene Schwalm and Sarah Lester. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service for Tony will be conducted Friday, April 13, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. at Cherokee Baptist Church, Jonesborough, TN with Rev. Dwight Hobbs officiating. The family will meet with friends following the service at the home of a brother, Andy Blackburn, 2610 Highway 81S, Jonesborough, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to assist in funeral expenses.
