Nellie Honeycutt Ledford, 86 of Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 11, 2018 at NHC Health Care. She was a native of Mitchell County, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Carl and Kansas Street Honeycutt. Mrs. Ledford was a member of Maranatha Tabernacle. She was a homemaker, musician, loved arts and crafts. Most of all she loved serving the Lord and had spent her entire life singing, leading bible studies and telling the world about Jesus. Mrs. Ledford loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walford Decoy “Bud” Ledford in 1992; a brother, Clarence Honeycutt and wife, Ruth; a brother-in-law, Joe Bowers; a daughter-in-law, Janet Lancaster.
Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Holtsclaw and husband, Steve of Hampton; a son, Terry Ledford and wife, Carolyn of Savannah, GA; two sisters, Lola Bowers and Viola Caldwell and husband, Thurman all of Johnson City; six grandchildren, David Holtsclaw and wife, Jennifer, Crystal Rush and husband, Steve, Misty Hendrickson and husband, Jason, Amy Terry and husband, Dutch, Jenny Jones and husband, Aaron, and Jeana Harper, Chris Harper and Joe Welch; great-grandchildren, Conor, Aidan, Rowan, Christopher, Mia, Abby, Zane, Veronica, Myra, Emma, Abigail, Haley, Austin, Kaylee and Brayden; several great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ledford will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor E.L. Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jason, Austin and Brayden Hendrickson, David and Steve Holtsclaw and Steve Rush. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
